Danny Newland

January 11, 1947 ~ January 4, 2019 (age 71)

Danny (Dan) K. Newland was born on January 11, 1947, in Harlan Iowa to Pat and Barb (Arkfeld) Newland. He grew up in Portsmouth, Iowa the second of seven    siblings. Dan married Marilyn Niedermyer on September 7, 1968. They lived their entire married life in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where they raised their three children. Dan joined the Army National Guard in 1967 and served for more than 20 years. He retired after a 40 year career at Nebraska Distributing. He also owned and operated Highland Acres Apartments in Council Bluffs for 23 years.  Dan was a hard worker and found pride in a job well done.

In addition to being known as a hard worker, Dan has always been admired by his family and friends as a genuinely kind and big hearted man. He and Marilyn especially enjoyed spending time at their lake house in the Lake of the Ozarks. When not working on a project around the house or on the dock, Dan loved to be out on the boat. He was always willing to let the grandkids or other kids help him drive. He also loved white pick-up trucks and his Corvette that Marilyn affectionately calls “Baby”.

Danny passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at age 71.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Barb Newland; parents-in-law, Milton and Mary Niedermyer, brothers-in-law, Jim Niedermyer and Louis Heller, and twin nephews.
