Elaine Thompson

Elaine Beth Thompson was born on July 22, 1938, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Charles and Lulu (Williams) Hodges. Elaine attended country school in the Logan area and graduated from Logan High School in 1957.  Elaine went to California right out of high school and stayed with her sister. She then moved back and worked at Goldstein Chapman Department Store in Omaha and then Kreski’s Variety Store in Council Bluffs. In 1959 Elaine married Larry Caddell at the Logan Methodist Church. The couple lived in Logan and two sons were born, Jerry in 1962 and Larry in 1964. They lived on the Dupree farm north of Woodbine. Elaine worked at Bob’s Café in Woodbine for over 25 years. Elaine married Donald Thompson on December 7, 1980. The   couple lived on the Thompson farm for over 30 years and then moved into Woodbine.

Elaine was a member of the Woodbine First United  Methodist Church. She was active with the women’s circle and United Methodist Women. She helped at the Thrift Shop at the church and made apple pies for Applefest. She enjoyed raising a garden on the farm and helping with the farm work.

Elaine died on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, one month and 18 days.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Thompson; daughter-in-law, Deb Caddell; four sisters, Pauline and her husband Roy Stentz, JoAnn Bobenmoyer, Jean Griffith and Marie and her husband Harold Dickinson; three brothers, Leo Hodges, Clint Hodges and his wife Mina, and Earnest Hodges. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Caddell and his wife Katherine of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Larry Caddell of Woodbine, Iowa; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Doris E. Ramsey of Mesa, Arizona; two brothers-in-law, Jim Bobenmoyer and Charles Griffith both of Audubon, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Ardis Hodges of Logan, Iowa and Eleanor Hodges of California; and many other relatives and friends.
