Harold Navrude

Harold Alvin Navrude was born on January 23, 1935, to Sigurd and Henrietta (Stoll) Navrude near Soldier, Iowa. He attended country school near Soldier and later near Woodbine. Harold went to live with his aunt in Onawa and attended Onawa High School for one year. Harold then began working as a farmhand. At the age of 13 he went to western Nebraska and worked in the hay fields for six weeks. Harold met Shirley Navrude on a blind date, and on June 7, 1964, the two were united in marriage. The couple farmed and made their home near Dunlap for 25 years. In 1989, they moved to Woodbine. Harold worked for Kelly Ryan in Blair, Nebraska while he was still farming. He also worked for Omsteel in Woodbine. After Harold and Shirley moved to town, he went to work for Triple C Roofing in Woodbine. Harold had a work-related accident in 2007 and was then forced to retire.

Harold was a member of the Believer’s Training Center in Woodbine. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of flowers. He also enjoyed hunting in his younger years.

Harold died on January 15, 2019, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 83 years, 11 months and 23 days.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley Navrude on November 7, 2014; and infant brother, Harlan Navrude. He is survived by three daughters, Kathy and George Tiedeman of Woodbine, Iowa, Kristy and her husband Ron Brand of Holdrege, Nebraska, and Karolyn Navrude of Blair, Nebraska; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Marlene and her husband Chuck Agosta of Omaha, Nebraska; three brothers, Delbert Navrude and his wife Lois of Woodbine, Harry Navrude and his wife Jane of Blair, Nebraska and Norman Navrude of California;  and many other relatives and friends.
