Mark Bernacchi

July 1, 1957 — January 16, 2019

Tekamah, Nebraska

Mark Allen Bernacchi was born on July 1, 1957, to Raymond and Mary (Schlensig) Bernacchi in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Dunlap, Iowa and moved to Council Bluffs as an adult.

Mark’s fondest memories were growing up in Dunlap. He loved to play baseball, especially with the Black Shirts. He was an awesome second baseman, as he had quick hands and agility. He also loved bowling at the Dunlap Bowling Alley. He spent a lot of time there trying to perfect his game. He would never say it, but he was very good at that too. One of his other favorite hang-outs was at Murphy’s Bar, as he loved to be with his friends and play cards.

Mark died on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his brother’s home in Tekamah, Nebraska, attaining the age of 61 years, six months and 14 days.

Mark will be remembered as a loving and caring person who always thought of others first. Even in his final hours, he was more concerned about his loved ones than himself. Mark is finally at peace and is now with his loving mother, Mary and his little brother, John. There is no doubt they were waiting for him at Heaven’s Gate with many loving aunts and uncles.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Bernacchi. Mark is survived by his son, Kody Bernacchi of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two grandchildren; three siblings, Jeanette and her husband Mark Nusser of Treynor, Iowa, Raymond Bernacchi and his wife Jean of Tekamah, Nebraska, and Corinne and her husband Mike Schram of Beaver Lake, Nebraska; nieces, Natalie and her husband Matt Ringen and Nikki and her husband Nick Rosenow of all Minden, Iowa, and Christy and her husband Nick Langland of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nephew, Derek Bernacchi of Omaha, Nebraska; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Services for Mark will be held privately and invitation only.
