Forbes Gordon Glennie Jr. was born on September 17, 1936, in Atlantic, Iowa to Forbes and Myrtle (Petersen) Glennie. The family moved many times eventually settling down in Mondamin, Iowa. Gordon graduated from Mondamin High School in 1955 and then enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. After serving his country, he began working for the GTE telephone company. On February 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Myrna Coyle at the RLDS Church in Pisgah, Iowa. They settled on a little farm southwest of Pisgah and later moved to the Orson area. Gordon farmed and enjoyed working on the land growing corn, beans and hay. He bred and raised Arabian horses. Gordon also worked for Hutchinson Chevrolet in Pisgah, Farmers Coop in Mondamin and Mid Country Diesel in Missouri Valley.

Gordon was a member of the Harrison County Cattleman, Pisgah Saddle Club and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed going to horse shows. Later in life, Gordon and Myrna loved to travel with their horses and go on trail rides. They also took dance lessons and went to many dances. Gordon was known for often leading discussions at the Moorhead and Pisgah Liars Club coffee groups.

Gordon passed away on May 10, 2022, at CHI Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa having attained the age of 85 years, seven months and 23 days.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Judith, Kathleen and Susan; brother, Gene; and grandsons, Nathan White and Ryen Glennie. He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Mondamin; three children, Julie and her husband Jim Adams of Missouri Valley, Kevin Glennie of Missouri Valley, and Jodi and her husband Eric Juhnke of Sioux City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
