Janie Moore was born on September 3, 1945 to parents James Kenneth and Lola (Upchurch) Moore in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Janie grew up in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1963. She then attended Drake University and graduated with a degree in education. She taught school in Des Moines and later became a youth minister at the First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines.
Janie was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was active in feeding the homeless and starting the church food pantry. She loved gardening and birds. She enjoyed spending time at Saylorville Lake enjoying God’s creation. She loved her nieces and nephews.
Janie died on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 22 days.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, half brother, Eddie Moore; half sister Jeannine Moore; brother-in-law, Tom Wells and a nephew, Joey Moore. She is survived by her sister, Patti Wells of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother, Jim Moore and his wife Karen of Bella Vista, Arkansas; half sister, Kim Moore of Council Bluffs, Iowa; half brother, Allyn Moore and his wife Karlean of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services are being planned at the First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, Iowa. We will post the service times once they are finalized.
