     Ace Anthony Schrunk was born on October 19, 1940, to parents Otto Francis and Frances Agnes (Sohm) Schrunk in Danbury, Iowa. He grew up in Danbury and attended Catholic school and graduated from Danbury High School in 1960. Ace served in the Iowa National Guard. On May 9, 1964, Ace married Mary Owens at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Ace worked as an International Harvester Mechanic in the Mapleton and LeMars areas. In the early 1980’s, Ace became a machinist. The family moved to Omaha in 1984 where Ace worked for Preco Inc. Ace retired in 2006. The couple moved to Missouri Valley in 2000.

     Ace was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Missouri Valley. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved working outside with his Kobota tractor, his model train set complete with a tunnel, collecting 1/16th scale International Harvester tractors and his Great Danes. You could never take the farm out of the farm boy. Most of all he cherished his time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

     Ace died on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley at the age of 83 years, four months and 14 days.

     Ace was preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Schrunk; siblings, Odelia Schrunk, Barbara Ann Schrunk, Charlie (Genevieve) Schrunk, John Schrunk, Leroy Schrunk, and Bruce Schrunk; sister-in-law, Kathy Schrunk; and great grandson, Leo Steinbach. He is survived by his wife Mary Schrunk of Missouri Valley, Iowa; three children, Michelle and her husband Peter Steinbach of Sioux City, Iowa, Stacia and her husband Mike Schuur of Sioux City, Iowa and Kevin Schrunk and his wife Tina of Elkhorn, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Otto Schrunk of Sioux City, Iowa and Bryon Schrunk and his wife Patti of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Sally Schrunk of LeMars, Iowa and Tina Schrunk of Danbury, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
