Arnold Reed

Arnold Daniel "Arnie" Reed was born on September 29, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to parents Archie & Eva (Coleman) Reed. He graduated from Dunlap High School. Arnie then joined the Marine Corp for a short time. He worked at the Dunlap Bowling ally and a sheltered workshop in Denison. Arnie and his mom, Eva, moved to Harlan. There he had a large paper route; he delivered the Des Moines Register, Omaha World Herald and the Council Bluffs Nonpareil all at the same time. He also drove for Southwest Iowa Transit and for Head Start. In 2003 while driving for Southwest Iowa Transit, Arnie was in a terrible accident.

Arnie loved nature, especially reptiles and birds. He had many pets, including snakes, birds, ferrets, dogs and cats. He also enjoyed collecting beanie babies.

Arnie died on January 10, 2005, at Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 53 years, three months, and 12 days.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Joan Ione Stein of Council Bluffs; and many other family and friends.
