Barbara Ellen (Davis) Cox was born February 5, 1916, to Roy and Hazel (Tupper) Davis in Persia, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm near Persia and attended country school. She was graduated from Logan High School in 1933. Barbara attended one additional year of schooling for business. Barbara married Howard Kermitt Cox on December 1, 1940. The couple lived in Logan. Barbara first worked for Mr. DeCou at the bank in Woodbine. She also worked at Farm Bureau, for attorney Roy Havens, at the Selective Service office in the courthouse, and lastly at the First National Bank in Logan for many years until her retirement in 1981.

Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Logan. She was also a member of the Delvers Club for many years. This club studied books and gave reports. She also enjoyed many hobbies including raising African violets, studying piano and organ, and visiting the family farm.

Barbara died on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Spring Harbor Assisted Living in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 97 years, seven months, and 10 days.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Cox on March 22, 1998; sister Ruth (Davis) Worth, and infant twin brother and sister. She is survived by her son, Kermitt Cox and his wife Sue Chu of Columbus, Georgia, grandchildren, great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
