Barbara Lucille (Knapper) Miller was born on January 25, 1932, to Lloyd and Victoria (Ogren) Knapper in Carroll, Iowa. Barbara grew up in Jefferson, Iowa, attended school in Farlin, Iowa and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950. Barbara attended Wayne State Teachers College for three years. She was hired by Henry Boone and taught first grade in Woodbine until 1955. On November 26, 1954, Barbara married Charles Miller at the Woodbine United Methodist Church with Reverend John Wood performing the ceremony. The couple then farmed north of Woodbine.

Barbara was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Harlan, where she started the toddlers class, and was a substitute Sunday school teacher. During her high school days she enjoyed singing solos at church.

Barbara died on Friday, November 8, 2013, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 81 years, nine months, and 11 days.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Charles and their five children, Marilyn and her husband David Stewart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rod Miller and his wife Joanie of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ron Miller and his wife Dawn of Woodbine, Iowa, Kathy and her husband George Inyang of Douglasville, Georgia, John Miller and his wife Rebecca of Des Moines, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Waunita Millage of Boone, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
