Bertha Morton

Bertha Ellen (Cox) Morton was born January 9, 1931, to Dewey and Alma Bertha (Benson) Cox in Moorhead, Iowa. She attended school in Moorhead. Bertha married Robert Wendall Morton on November 10, 1949, in Logan, Iowa. Through the years Bertha worked at Baelmann's for three years, the experimental fruit farm for five years and at Westmont Care Center for 17 years. Bob died on November 5, 1989.

Bertha was a member of the Christian Church in Logan. She enjoyed telling stories of her youth. She also enjoyed quilting, needle point, antiques, buttons, and playing cards. She like reading, poetry, watching English movies, MASH, and PBS series. She enjoyed traveling, watching birds, and enjoying the holidays. Most of all she enjoyed her family and grandkids.

Bertha died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 85 years and one month.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers, Dewey and Keith; husband Bob Morton; two grandchildren, Randi LuEllen White and Nicholas Mounce; three brothers, Larry, Charles and Gary Cox; and four in-laws, Doris Cox, Margaret Cox, Walter Malone, and Ted Archer. She is survived by her five children, Bonnie (Danny) Buresh of Pierce City, MO, Barb White of Council Bluffs, IA, Bob (Cindy) Morton of Logan, IA, Michael (Mary) Morton of Ames, IA, Kathleen (Kirk) Chapman of Logan, IA; 11 grandsons; 11 great grandchildren; seven siblings, Donald Cox of Woodbine, IA, Darlene Malone of Dunlap, IA, Janet Archer of Castana, IA, Carolyn (Frank) Archer of Moorhead, IA, Ronald (Linda) Cox of New Mexico, Patricia Hardy of Moorhead, IA, Stanley (Chris) Cox of St. Louis, MO; two sisters-in-law, Louise Cox and Barbara Cox both of Dunlap, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
