Betty Boe was born October 16, 1920, in Woodbine, Iowa to parents John Edward and Lulu Mae (Millard) Boe.  She was raised in the Woodbine area and graduated from Woodbine High School.  She furthered her education by taking the Normal Training and teaching in country schools.  She continued her learning process by taking additional classes at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.  After some years of teaching, Betty changed jobs and began working in the banking industry.  She worked at 1st National Bank in San Francisco, California and in the banking industry in Omaha, Nebraska as well.  In the mid 1980s Betty moved to Dunlap.
   
   Betty was a member of the Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.  She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society drives and also collected money for the American Heart Association.  Betty attended TOPS meetings and she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.  She was an avid sports fan and loved to follow the high school and college athletic events.
   
   Betty died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa attaining the age of 83 years, 11 months, and seven days.
   
   Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Warren and Lawrence; and two sisters Lila Jackson and Neva Austin.  She is survived by two sisters Enid Brown of Escondido, California, Irene Cleveland of Woodbine, Iowa; brother-in-law Kenneth Austin of Dunlap, Iowa; sister-in-law Ruth Boe of Dunlap, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other family, friends, and neighbors.
