Logan, Iowa

Betty Delores (Peterson) McAdams was born on December 18, 1923, to Harry J. and Mary L. (Barnum) Peterson in Logan, Iowa. She attended school, graduated from Logan High School in 1941, and lived her entire life in Logan. Following her high school graduation, Betty took a teaching course of study, but she found that school teaching wasn't for her. She did, however, spend much of her life teaching others….with her talents for sewing, cake decorating, many different arts and crafts, home decorating, gardening and volunteering. Soon after high school, Betty went to work for Darner's Variety Store in Logan ~ which later became G & L Tru Value Store. Betty married Carl L. McAdams. She continued to work her entire life at the variety store and retired from there in 1988. After her retirement and the death of her husband, Betty was a constant volunteer at the Senior Meal Site in Logan. She stayed active until her health issues made it impossible to remain in her home alone. Betty moved to the Westmont Care Center in 2009.
