Cheryl Ann Peterson was born on November 2, 1946, in Dunlap, Iowa to Melvin and Kathleen (Loney) Tolliver. She grew up in the towns of Woodbine and Dunlap surrounded by the beauty of rural Iowa. On December 12, 1964, Cheryl married Sheldon Peterson, and they were blessed with three children, Sabre, Tami and Nicholas. The couple first resided in Logan before settling in Yutan, Nebraska. Sadly, Sheldon preceded her in death in 1990, leaving a profound impact on her life. Cheryl worked at Millard Good Samaritan, where she worked diligently in various capacities, including Certified Nursing Assistant, Laundry and Housekeeping. She advanced to the role of supervisor of environmental services, making a positive difference in the lives of many residents and staff.

Cheryl was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She had a passion for travel, with fond memories of spending three months in Alaska. She also cherished her garden and loved to grow flowers. Cheryl took immense joy in spending time with her family, especially trips with her grandkids. She treasured this time they shared together and leaves a legacy of loving memories.

Cheryl died on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her home in Omaha, at the age of 78 years, five months and 22 days.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Linda Tolliver and Debbie Monahan; and brother, Jay Tolliver. She is survived by her children, Sabre (Jerry) Hansen of Fremont, Nebraska, Tami Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska and Nicholas (Catherine) Peterson of Gretna, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kayleigh (Brandon) Hilt of Yutan, Nebraska, Allison (Aaron) Johnson of Omaha, Dylan Soucy-Peterson United States Navy and Joshua Peterson of Papillion, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Mason Hilt, Knox Hilt, Lyla Johnson and one on the way; siblings, John (Zelma) Tolliver of Surprise, Arizona, Gary (Linda) Tolliver of McAllen, Texas, Harry (Sherrie) Tolliver of Homosassa, Florida, Sandra Larson of Harlan, Iowa, Crystal Hatterman of Woodbine, Iowa, Alan (Ruth) Tolliver of Springfield, Nebraska and Cindy (Mike) Ames of Shenandoah, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
