     Clay Adam Thompson was born on December 16, 1963, to Avery and Verna (Merritt) Thompson in Denison, Iowa. He attended school in Dunlap, Iowa graduating with the class of 1982. After graduating he worked at Nordstrum, Farmland and was a long-time mechanic at Quality Trucking.

     Clay had a fondness for the Rottweiler breed and his beloved dogs held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, listening to records and drinking Budweiser with his friends. 

     Clay died on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at his home in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 59 years, two months and 19 days.

     Clay was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brett Thompson; and beloved dogs, Lucy, Lucky and Reno. He is survived by his sister, Peg and her husband Rick Pauley of Earling, Iowa; nieces, Nikki Pauley and Luke Fouts of Dunlap and Tara and her husband Joe Gorden of Dow City, Iowa; nephew, Derek Pauley and fiancé Ashley Fox of Earling; great nieces, Lexi and Gabi; and many good friends and family.
