Cleopatra "Cleo" Georgina (Benson) Palmer was born February 23, 1921, to Frank and Edith (Kline) Benson in Arion, Iowa.  The family eventually moved to Dunlap and Cleo graduated from Dunlap High School in 1939.  Cleo married Woody Lee in 1940 and the couple moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1942.  Cleo welded for Giant Manufacturing during World War II.  Cleo married Don Helton in 1960, and he died in 1980.  She married Cecil Palmer in 1981, and he died in 1983.  Cleo worked at Edward Drug Store in Omaha, Nebraska for 13 years and at Broadway Bowl in Council Bluffs for an additional 13 years.  Cleo was a member of the Congregational Church in Dunlap, Iowa.
   
   Cleo was active in bowling leagues at Broadway and Thunderbolt bowling alleys.  She enjoyed going to the casinos, out to eat, summer cookouts and family get-togethers.  She especially loved her grandkids birthday parties.
   
   Cleo died on Monday, August 29, 2005, at her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 84 years, six months, and six days.
   
   Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Woody Lee, Don Helton, and Cecil Palmer; brother, Ross Benson, and sister, Braunda Noel.  She is survived by three children, Charlotte Marie Kennedy of Pacific Junction, Iowa, Ross J. Lee of Omaha, Nebraska, Starr Lynn and her husband Mel Ratliff of Council Bluffs, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren three sisters, Joy Sowers, Janetta and her husband Dick Speight, Darla and her husband Ron Cleveland all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-father George Lyons of Council Bluffs, Iowa; dear friend Bob Becklehimer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
