Connie McWhirter

Constance Joann (Erlewine) Leytham McWhirter was born July 19, 1936, to Dale Wheeler and Creola Mae (Vroman) Erlewine in Woodbine. She was raised in the Woodbine area and graduated from Woodbine High School. She then attended Iowa Central Community College. In February of 1954, Connie married Dale Leytham. The couple was blessed with four children. Several years ago Connie married John McWhirter.

Connie was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Rockwell City, Iowa. When she lived in Michigan she also belonged to the Moose Lodge.

Connie died on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 80 years, two months, and 27 days.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four children, Christine (Robert) Lewis of Orange Park, Florida, Jane (George) Rice of Arlington, Texas, Judy (Terry) Riles of Callender, Iowa, Michael (Kathy) Leytham of Beaverton, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; six siblings, Cathy Searcy and Pat (Glenda) Erlewine all of Woodbine, Iowa, Jeanne (Bob) Holloway of Terrebonne, Oregon, Robert (Sandy) Erlewine of Brownsville, Oregon, Tom (Judy) Erlewine of Woodbine, Iowa, Bill (Dawna) Erlewine of Anchorage, Alaska; and many other relatives and friends.
