     Craig Allen Chambers was born on September 14, 1955, in Denison, Iowa to Everett Earl and Hazel Louise (Heistand) Chambers. He grew up on the family farm outside of Soldier, Iowa and graduated from East Monona High School in 1974. Craig was united in marriage to Kathryn Anne Chesmore on September 15, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine, Iowa and they were married for 41 years. To this union, they had four children. In the early 1980’s the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona and in 1988 they moved to Hanford, California. In 2002, the family (except for Brenda) moved back to the farm outside of Soldier, Iowa. Craig spent his entire life farming.

     Outside his work, Craig was a man of varied interests. He possessed a special fondness for horses and found joy both in their care and companionship. The thrill of the rodeo called to him as well, where he competed in calf-roping and team-roping. Craig’s skill with his hands extended beyond the farm; he enjoyed welding, woodworking, fabrication, construction, mechanics and raising livestock. He was always resourceful, creative, independent, and to his own demise, stubborn. Craig enjoyed camping and going on horse pack trips into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He enjoyed teaching his children and many others how to rope and ride horses. These activities provided moments of accomplishment and adventure in the company of the family, friends and animals he loved.

     Craig died on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his home outside of Soldier, at the age of 70 years, 11 months, and two days.

     Craig was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; and brothers, Kenneth and Calvin Chambers. He is survived by his children, Brenda (Jason) Haught of Bakersfield, California, Chad Chambers (Jill Andersen) of Woodbine, Iowa, Kerri (Todd) Tremel of Earling, Iowa, and Jason Chambers (Angela Gosch) of Ada, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Melanie, Reuben, Chanel, Kaylee, Katlyn, Kelsey, Jonathan, Kellyanne, Riley, Emily, Oakley, Rowdy, and Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Carson and Colter; sisters, Janice (Ron) Baeth, and Karen (Rev. Craig) Swenson; and many other relatives and friends.
