Dale Mether

Dale Larry Mether was born September 3, 1936, to Edwin and Vera (Barkoff) Mether in Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised on a farm near Woodbine. Dale attended country school and then Woodbine Normal School and graduated in 1954. After graduation Dale proudly served his county by joining the United States Army in 1955. He was honorably discharged in 1957. On September 8, 1959, Dale married Phyllis Peterson at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine. Dale worked for Wilson Concrete and then Omaha Steel in Omaha, Nebraska. He then farmed with his parents for a few years and returned to Wilson Concrete. In his later years he worked for Douglas Contractors as a lineman and drove a truck for Grante Construction. The retired from there in 1998.
Dale enjoyed family and friends and riding his horses and donkeys.
Dale died in an automobile accident on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 near Dow City, Iowa at the age of 77 years, eight months and four days.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Sueline Mether. He is survived by his three children, Bruce Mether of Spokane, Washington, Brian Mether and his wife Stacie of Huson, Montana, Brenda and her husband Mitch Palmer of Omaha, Nebraska; several grandchildren; two step daughters, Dawn and Deann; sister, Jean Springer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother, Harley Mether and his wife Janet of Woodbine, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

Dale's wishes were to be cremated and no other services. Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
