Dale Arden Nelson was born May 2, 1913, to Adolph and Mamie (Thomsen) Nelson in Elk Horn, Iowa. He was baptized at an early age at the Cuppy's Grove Baptist Church and attended country school in the Cuppy's Grove area. On November 7, 1935, Dale was united in marriage to Nina Nelson. They were blessed with two daughters, Janet and Beverly. The couple farmed for three years and then took over Nina's father's dairy. Most of their life was spent farming, but in 1959 they moved to California. Dale was employed by the Los Angeles Police Department for eight years as a Security Officer at the Dodger Stadium.

One of the special joys during his retirement years was taking many enjoyable vacation trips in their van. Dale enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and taking care of the lawn. Dale's great treasurers in life were his home and family. For the past 15 years Dale and Nina have enjoyed their home in Woodbine.

Dale died on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 92 years, eight months, and 2 days.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Sheldon, Lowell, and Sterling. He is survived by his wife, Nina of 70 years; two daughters, Janet and her husband Harley Mether of Woodbine, Iowa, Beverly and her husband Dennis Osbahr of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; step grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and a host of friends.
