Daniel Ray Jochims was born on November 21, 1951, to Raymond Jochims and Lena Bahr in Earling, Iowa. The family lived in Dunlap where Danny attended Dunlap Public School and then moved to Woodbine and he attended Woodbine High School. On February 28, 1970, Danny married Debra Lynne Craft at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine, and they made their home in Woodbine. Danny began working for GTE in 1969, later named Iowa Telecom, and most recently Windstream where Danny was a telephone technician. Danny retired from Windstream on June 30, 2013, after 44 years. Many of the local people have a story about Danny coming to install or repair their phone line. He took very good care of his customers.

Danny loved to fish, hunt and camp. More recently he had been spending time fishing in South Dakota with some of his friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren and would go to watch them in their various activities. He also liked to socialize with his friends at the Corn Palace in Woodbine.

Danny died on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61 years, seven months, and 14 days.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Joe Peterson; sister, Bonnie Jochims; daughter-in-law, Jenny Jochims and brother-in-law, Terry Collins. He is survived by his two sons, Scott (Connie Burbridge) Jochims and Jeremy (Stacy) Jochims all of Woodbine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jacob of Harlan and Sarah and Anna of Woodbine, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Jo Collins of Woodbine and Judy and her husband James Howie of Omaha, Nebraska and many other relatives and friends.
