David Adkins

David D. Adkins was born February 25, 1933, to Ledrow and Fannie (Ennis) Adkins in McKendree, West Virginia. He was raised in West Virginia and graduated from high school. Dave proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Dave married Mary Ann Stepanek on July 11, 1954, at the Dow City United Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with four children. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force after 23 years of service. Mary Ann died on August 5, 1989. Dave married Gertrude Ann Mentzer Nichols on April 28, 1990. Gert died on June 18, 2005. On October 6, 2006, Dave married Marie Keuter Seufert in Harlan, Iowa. Dave was a school bus driver for Boyer Valley School District and worked at the Twin Valley Vet Clinic.

Dave was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Dave died on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa at the age of 79 years, eight months, and 14 days.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Ann, second wife, Gert and infant brother. He is survived by his wife, Marie Adkins of Dunlap, Iowa; four children, Larry Adkins and his wife Diana of Monument, Colorado, Maria Adkins of Colorado, Melissa and her husband Wayne Suhr of Parker, Colorado, Mike Adkins of Dunlap, Iowa; three grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann and her husband Calvin Hayes of Meadow Bridge, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Nancy and her husband Herman Rosburg of Charter Oak, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jack Keuter and his wife Phyllis of Creston, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
