David Ehlert

David L. Ehlert was born on November 13, 1966, in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Robert Ehlert and Janet Golden. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended school at Washington High School.

David enjoyed lighthouses. He owned a prized collection of Zippo lighters. David also enjoyed playing pool and any card game you could think of.

David died on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the age of 59 years, seven months, and 24 days.

David was preceded in death by his brother Michael Ehlert. He is survived by his parents, Robert Ehlert of Woodbine, Iowa and Janet Golden of Missouri Valley, Iowa; surrogate daughter, Kelsey Clark; nephew, Sean Ehlert; nieces, Shaeleigh and Jade Ehlert; sister-in-law, Kimberly Ehlert; many cousins and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life is being planned by the family with details to come in the coming weeks.
