Dawn Miller

Dawn Renee Miller was born on July 17, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Robert “Bob” and Betty (Hulsebus) Bak. She grew up west of Dunlap, Iowa. Dawn attended school in Dunlap and graduated in 1978. On April 12, 1980, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald Miller. The couple was blessed with four children, Alexis, Brittany, Joel and Heather. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Dawn worked at the nursing home as a candy striper and then took care of clients in their homes. She worked as an associate at the alternative high school for many years, then worked at John Day company while getting her bachelor's degree. She was also able to be a stay-at-home mom while her children were small. Dawn loved the Lord and regularly attended the Believers Training Center in Woodbine.

Dawn was known as a force to be reckoned with; her beautiful smile could light up a room, and she brought joy to all who crossed her path. She had a love for high heels and acrylic nails and was always dressed for the occasion. Dawn was often found comfortably nestled in her favorite chair reading; she had a warm presence that welcomed everyone into her life. Dawn loved the public, embracing everyone with open arms and leaving a mark on the lives of many.

Dawn died on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 65 years, three months and five days.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Bob Bak and mother, Betty Lamphier. She is survived by her husband, Ron of Woodbine; children, Alexis and her husband Dan McDowell of Fresno, California, Brittany and her husband Walter Stokes of Portsmouth, Iowa, Joel Miller and his wife Katie of Dunlap, Iowa and Heather and her husband Taylor Jameson of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Payton, Aubrie, Iian, Jacob, Aleah, Oliver, Toby, Charlotte, Thomas, Theodore, Judah, Aspen and Ryden; siblings, Rob Bak and his wife Elaine of Vail, Iowa, Mike Bak and his wife Rebecca of Avoca, Iowa, Brian Bak and his wife Tammy of Woodbine, Sue and her husband Mark Brecht of Waterloo, Iowa, Bobby Bak and his wife Melinda of Hull, Iowa and Rodney Bak and his wife Yvonne of Branson, Missouri; stepmom, Moe Bak (Al) of Sioux City, Iowa.
