Dean Edward Malone was born on February 23, 1962 in Pisgah, Iowa to parents Fred and Ornella (Wendt) Malone. He grew up in the Woodbine and Dunlap area and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1980. Dean worked at the Twin Valley Vet Clinic, for Eddie Sullivan and then at a ranch in Wyoming. Dean married Ella Nelson on May 10, 1986 at the Dunlap Methodist Church. The couple lived in the Dunlap area and purchased the Malone family farm from Dean's parents. Dean also drove truck for a while, then worked for Empire Land and Cattle, Topf Farms and Cogdill Farm Supply.

Dean loved to show cattle and teaching his boys to show cattle. Dean would come home from work and load the boys up to go check on their cow herd. Dean enjoyed watching rodeos, especially the team roping event. The last few years Dean has enjoyed fishing with Levi and the grandkids.

Dean died on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 62 years, three months and 11 days.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Allan and sister, Barbara Malone. He is survived by his two sons, Levi Malone and his wife Audrina of Gretna, Nebraska and Wyatt Malone of Dunlap, Iowa; three grandchildren, Maguire, Sterling and Mila; two brothers, Charlie Malone and his wife Peg of Dunlap, Iowa and Leo Malone and his wife Theresa all of Dunlap, Iowa; two sisters, Marge Skarin of Dunlap, Iowa and Norma Malone of Missouri Valley, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
