Elmer Dean Redfield was born December 7, 1913, to Elmer and Verna (Gamet) Redfield in Woodbine, Iowa. Dean graduated from the Woodbine High School in 1932. He worked at Nicely Clothing Store before entering into the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Dean worked as an engine operator for the Woodbine Light Plant.
Dean was active in the American Legion and he was the Woodbine weather recorder for a number of years. Dean loved photography and woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling to state and national parks. He thought Colorado was particularly beautiful.
Dean died on Friday, September 30, 2005, at the Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa attaining the age of 91 years, nine months, and 23 days.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna Mae Colby in 1995; and brother Lloyd Redfield in 2000. He is survived by his sister, Joann Redfield of Woodbine, Iowa, and four nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at a later date.
