DeLoa Pryor

DeLoa Marie (Hickey) Pryor was born June 12, 1928, to Alice K. (Behm) and James P. Hickey in rural Woodbine, Iowa. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1946. In December of 1946, DeLoa married Robert L. Pryor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine, Iowa. To this union seven children were born. DeLoa worked at the Woodbine Sale Barn, Dunlap Livestock Auction, Moorhead Sale Barn and clerked for the Pryor Auction Company. She loved to collect antiques and was also an antique dealer. For a number of years, DeLoa was a hostess at Gurney's restaurant in Missouri Valley.

DeLoa was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was baptized in July of 1928. Many people referred to DeLoa as Dodi. She loved to have her family around and really enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren referred to her as Grandma Dodi.

DeLoa died on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 86 years, seven months, and 14 days.

DeLoa was preceded in death by her parents; Robert L. Pryor; daughter, Rebecca Hines; daughter-in-law, Dian Pryor; and brother, James L. Hickey. She is survived by six children, Dennis and Felicity Bishop of Hong Kong, China, Robert Pryor of Boonville, Missouri, Roni and Warren Hanson of Waterloo, Nebraska, Renee Hirsh of Omaha, Nebraska, Randy and Cindy Pryor of Woodbine, Iowa, Rachelle and Kelley Pence of Boerne, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jodi Hickey of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
