Don "Soup" Eugene Anderson was born October 24, 1928, to Andrew and Ruby (Keairnes) Anderson in Dow City, Iowa. He was raised in Dow City and attended school there. On October 16, 1949, Don married Lois Winsor. The couple was blessed with eight children. In 1968, Don married Viola Presley. Viola died in 2005. Soup worked as a truck driver for Jurgensen & Brue Trucking as well as for his Uncle Frank Glassburner. He then went to work at IBP in Denison. Soup also bartended at the Sportsman Bar and The Eagles' Club in Omaha. For 25+ years, Soup worked at the Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Soup was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Dunlap. He enjoyed visiting with friends over a drink of choice, hunting and fishing. He loved watching sports on TV and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Chicago Cubs and Iowa State Cyclones. He was a great cook and he always enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday with his family.

Soup died Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 23 days.

Soup was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola Anderson; son, Chuck Anderson; three grandchildren, Allison Heffernan, Mark Feller II, and Nicole Feller; daughter-in-law, Barb Anderson; sister, Anna Lou Yarrington; and brother, Bill Andersen. He is survived by his seven children, Dennis (Darla) Andersen of Huntsville, AL, Kathy (Chuck) Foreman of Phoenix, AZ, Steve Anderson and special friend Deborah of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike (Geri) Anderson of Dunlap, IA, Sue (Mark) Feller of Denison, IA, Sharon (Dan) Heffernan of Dunlap, IA, Lisa (Tim) Weber of Denison, IA; 22 grandchildren; 17 great grand- children; four sisters, Bonna Mae (Dick) Brooks of Council Bluffs, IA, Betty Nuzum of Hooper, NE, Wanda (Don) Kauffmann of Ida Grove, IA, Peggy Jo (Dave) Roberts of Arlington, TX; brother-in-law, Ben (Barb) Yarrington of Lamoni, IA; sister-in-law, Peg Andersen of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
