Donald Lee Lyman was born April 15, 1939, to Harold and Clothilda (Mahlberg) Lyman in Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised in the Dow City area and graduated from Dow City High School. After graduation he worked at Farmland and he also farmed near Dow City. Don married Jo McFee in Avoca, Iowa on November 30, 1985. The couple has lived south of Magnolia all of their married life. In 1990 Don started the JD Graphics Company.

Don and Jo enjoyed traveling. The couple enjoyed taking trips on their motorcycle and camping. They particularly enjoyed driving through Desoto Bend.

Don died on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, three months, and nine days.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Lyman. He is survived by his wife, Jo Lyman of Missouri Valley, Iowa; three children, Cindy Cooper of Hartwell, Nebraska, Denise (Jim) Wood of Tracy, California, Byron (Patty) Lyman of Dow City, Iowa; step son, John (Beth) Wakehouse of Papillion, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Don was a friend to many people including, Bill W. for almost 38 years.
