Donald James "Elbows" Guyett was born November 28, 1926, to Paul and Flora (O'Banion) Guyett in Woodbine, Iowa. He attended country school and the Woodbine Public School. Jim moved to California and worked in the shipyards and then joined the U. S. Navy. After his honorable discharge he returned to Woodbine and worked at Siebels Grocery Store. On January 20, 1954, Jim married Delores Finley at his parent's home in Woodbine. Jim started his own construction company and built many houses, remodeled homes, and built many additions to homes in the area. In 1963 the family moved into the home that Jim built in Logan. Delores died on February 14, 2002. Jim later sold their home and moved into an apartment in Logan. He eventually moved to Missouri Valley to be closer to his daughter.

Jim and Delores enjoyed camping and fishing. Jim also enjoyed going to Minnesota fishing with his buddies.

Jim died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 88 years, seven months, and two days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores Guyett; and three brothers, Lynn, Leslie and Harold Guyett. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret and her husband Roger Pitt of Missouri Valley, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jesse Pitt of Fremont, Nebraska and Lindsay Pitt of Missouri Valley, Iowa; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
