Donna Bahr

Donna Fae (Mills) Bahr was born February 5, 1940, to Orville and Bernadine (Speake) Mills on the family farm near Woodbine, Iowa. She attended country school, and in 1947 she moved into town and attended Woodbine Public School where she graduated in 1958. In her youth, Donna played basketball, was active at the Logan Christian Church, and enjoyed going to Nebowa Christian Camp. Donna married Roger "Hoot" Bahr at the Christian Church in Logan on June 1, 1958. The couple lived in Omaha, where she was a stay at home mom, active in PTA, a volunteer room mother, taught Sunday school and was a volunteer at VBS. The couple moved to Pisgah, Iowa on June 1, 1995, and enjoyed their retirement years establishing loving and lasting relationships.

Donna was an active member of the Little Sioux Church of Christ. She was involved in the prayer chain ministry and was a member of the Little Sioux Prayer Group as well as a committed student of the Bible. Donna was a member of the Pisgah Red Hats. She was an avid player of Scrabble, trivia, Yahtzee and other word games. She also enjoyed watching the game channel and playing games and making greeting cards on her computer. She was a sensitive, caring and loving woman. Recently, Donna lived at Rose Court Apartments in Woodbine. In January of 2013, Donna became a resident of Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.

Donna died May 27, 2013, at Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Roger Bahr on April 8, 2011. She is survived by her three children, Kelly (Lee) Valencia of Beaverton, OR; Karen (Dave) Portenier of Lincoln NE; and Wayne (Sharon) Bahr Mondamin, IA; four grandchildren, Todd (Sierra) Valencia, David (Adina) Valencia, Kevin (Lisa) Mautz, Gina (David Pope) Mautz; six great grandchildren, Alexis, Todd Jr., Dezmin, and Sophia Valencia, Alex and Shawn Mautz; brother, Donald Mills of Stockton, MO; two sisters-in-law, Betty Fitzgerald of Dunlap, IA and Lois (Herb) Gundelach of Fiddletown, CA; brother-in-law, Andy Rizzo of Warrior, AL; and many other relatives and friends.
