Doratt Louise (Vandivort) Baker was born August 15, 1942, in Moorhead, Iowa to George and Hilda (Peterson) Vandivort. She was raised in Moorhead and moved to Dunlap when she was in 8th grade. She then graduated from Dunlap High School. On August 24, 1963, Doratt married Paul "Cuz" Baker at the United Methodist Church in Dunlap. The couple lived in Dunlap. She cleaned the Barrett Funeral Home for a number of years and then worked at Roger's Lumberyard in Dunlap. In March of 1985 the couple moved to Panhandle, Texas for Paul's job at IBP. Doratt continued to clean houses for a number of years. She also worked for the American Quarter Horse Association as a file clerk. She had a heart attack in 1997 and had to retire.

Doratt was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panhandle. She was a loving mother and grandmother, but she was most proud to be a great grandmother.

Doratt died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 71 years and 28 days.

Doratt was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Baker in 1998; brothers, Frank and John Vandivort; and sister, Thelma Dunkeson. She is survived by two daughters, Myra Baker and her significant other, Don Weber of Le Mars, Iowa, Paula Duckett and her significant other, Jimmy Castilleja of Pan-handle, Texas; brother, George Vandivort and his wife, Carol of Mapleton, Iowa; sister, Roberta Baker and her husband, Don of Omaha, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Emily and Kelly Duckett; one great grandson, Isaiah Haines; many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.
