Doris Moore

Doris Irene (Tague) Moore was born July 22, 1928, to Alfred and Marion (Cooper) Tague in Logan, Iowa. She was raised throughout Harrison County and graduated from Logan High School in 1945. On June 17, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Leo Hodges in Logan. To this union three children were born. They divorced in 1960. On April 8, 1964, Doris married J. Kenneth Moore, Sr. in Omaha, Nebraska. Two children were born to this union. Ken passed away in 1972. On October 12, 1976, Doris married Robert Moore Sr. in Las Vegas, Nevada. After teaching at Redinbaugh Country School, Doris worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Moore Brothers' Supermarket in Logan. She later owned and managed the Valley South Store in Missouri Valley with her sister, Beulah. After many years in the grocery store business, she was the co-owner and operator, with her grandson Chuck, of the Brick Oven Bakery and Deli in Woodbine. Doris retired in 1988 and moved to Council Bluffs in 2000.

Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Logan, member of the Woodbine Chamber of Commerce and Harrison County Republican Women. Doris enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards and bingo. Her love of baking earned her the loving nickname of "Grandma Cookie" with all of her grandchildren.

Doris died November 19, 2012, at the Northcrest Living Center in Council Bluffs at the age of 84 years, three months, and 23 days.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Moore; infant son, Donald Hodges; infant grandson, Steven Ritterbush; two brothers, Earl and Ernest Tague; and sister Helen Tippery. She is survived by her children, Janice (Ray) Ritterbush of Council Bluffs, IA, Ronald (Catherine) Hodges of Gravois Mills, MO, Kimberly Mitchell and Allyn (Karlean) Moore all of Council Bluffs, IA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Beulah Carlson of Panora, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
