Daniele Mae "Dottie" Vandemark was born April 13, 1982, to Dan and Melanie (Handke) Vandemark in Onawa, Iowa. She was raised near Woodbine and Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. Dottie lived in a ward house with Iowa Focus and worked at Vodec. Then she moved to Country Care and worked at Concerned Inc. both in Harlan. In 2013 Dottie moved to Mosaic in Logan, but she continued to work at Concerned Inc.

Dottie enjoyed playing video games, loving up on animals, family gatherings, shopping and social events that Mosaic had. Dottie was always smiling.

Dottie died on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 34 years, 7 months, and 20 days.

Dottie was preceded in death by her mother, Melanie Handke on September 2, 2015. She is survived by her father, Dan Vandemark and his wife Paula of Woodbine, Iowa; brother, Scott Vandemark and his wife Casi of Woodbine, Iowa; sister, Laurie and her husband Brian Doyle of Louisdale Nova Scotia, Canada; grandparents, Ila Handke of Glenwood, Iowa, Edward Handke of Wall Lake, Iowa, Freeman and Iva Vandemark of Woodbine, Iowa, and Richard and Juanita Steffen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; step brother, Tim Steffen and his wife Kelly of Sierra Vista, Arizona, two half siblings, Kristi Vandemark and her friend Justin Saggs of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Danny Vandemark of Woodbine, Iowa; as well as various aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
