Elaine Hansen

Elaine Marie (Byrd) Hansen was born October 1, 1923 to Sanford and Etha Mae (Goforth) Byrd in Riceville, Iowa. She was raised near Riceville, Iowa, attended school and graduated from Riceville High School. She then attended Vocational Nurse's Training and began her work at Rose Vista in the 1960's. On March 29, 1943, Elaine married Harlan Hansen in Leroy, Minnesota. Elaine worked for Rose Vista Nursing Home and was also co-owner of Hansen Hardware in Woodbine. Harlan died on March 10, 2001.

Elaine was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church, the Methodist Ladies Circle, and P.E.O.

Elaine died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 93 years, one month and eight days.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harlan Hansen; three brothers; Kersey and Carroll Byrd and twin brother, Ernest Byrd; and sister, Pauline Roloff. She is survived by her three children, Kent Hansen of Tigard, Oregon; Brad (Lisa) Hansen of Greenville, South Carolina; and Linda Westfall of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Cara, Darcie, Amy, Jamie and Bethanie; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jan Byrd of Madrid, Iowa; brother-in-law, Galen (Lois) Hansen of McIntyre, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
