Ethel Oliver

Ethel Frances Oliver was born August 21, 1919, to Leslie and Katherine Ethel (Smith) Oliver in Woodbine, Iowa. She was raised in the Woodbine and Pisgah areas and graduated from the Pisgah High School in 1935. At the age of 16 Ethel started working as a bookkeeper at McKinney-Seabury Chevrolet Garage in Pisgah. She worked there until it closed. She then did the books for Seabury Farms until the early 2000s. Ethel became a resident of Rose Vista in 2010.

Ethel was an active member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, church treasurer and on the out-reach group. She was also a volunteer at the Welcome Center in Pisgah. She was on a bowling league for many years, was an avid reader, and kept up on politics. Most of all, Ethel dearly loved her nieces and nephews.

Ethel died on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine Iowa at the age of 96 years, eight months, and seven days.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lyle, Ted, Glen and Ivan Oliver; and two sisters, Iva Neese and Vera Clark. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
