Eugene Arthur Christensen was born on May 16, 1939, in Pisgah, Iowa to parents Arthur and Gladys (Harter) Christensen. He grew up on a farm Northeast of Pisgah and graduated from Pisgah High School. After graduating he started farming with his dad and grandpa Chris. Eugene married Karen Nuzum on May 2, 1959, at RLDS Church in Pisgah. The couple lived their entire married live on Eugene's Grandpa Chris's farm. Karen died on August 1, 2016.

Eugene coached all three of his boy’s baseball teams. He loved watching his sons and grandchildren play in their sporting events. He loved farming and raising cattle. Eugene loved to play practical jokes on his friends and family. He enjoyed going to the casino and always usually pretty lucky at the casino.

Eugene died on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Dunlap Specialty Care Center at the age of 82 years, five months and 21 days.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; son, Perry on July 4, 2010; and his cousin/"sister", Darlene Harter Hammack. He is survived by his two sons, Pat Christensen and his wife Kim and David Christensen and his wife Jana all of Pisgah; three grandchildren, Brandi and her husband Troy Maasen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Daniel Christensen and Lucas Christensen and his wife Marlee all of Pisgah; three step- grandchildren, Tony Gardner and his wife Meredith of Texas, Michael Gardner of Utah and Jennifer and her husband Dan Jones of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Roman Maasen; eight step-great-grandchildren, Ruth Gardner, Eva Gardner, Lenora Gardner, Westin Gardner, Noelle Gardner, Jana Lee Gardner, Marcie Lawver and Leila Lawver and many other relatives and friends.

There will be private family services at this time and a Celebration of Eugene’s Life will be at a later time.
