Eula Vendetta (Adamson) Blankenship was born January 8, 1914, near Panama, Iowa to William G. and Eva Rae (Smith) Adamson. The family moved closer to Woodbine and she attended Douglas Hill, Sunny Glenn, Meadowbrook and Pleasant Valley Schools before entering Woodbine High School and graduating in 1931. Eula stayed at home following graduation to help her mother with the housework and feeding the farm hands. At a dance in Woodbine, Eula met Alvin Blankenship and the two were married on June 12, 1935, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Magnolia, Iowa. The couple farmed near Logan, Magnolia and Beebeetown and moved into Logan in 1975. In the fall of 2012 they moved to Council Bluffs due to health concerns and to be closer to family. Alvin died November 16, 2015.

Eula was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan. Eula would help out at funeral lunches and weddings at the church. They loved to square dance and belonged to the Circle 8 Square Dance Club. They also liked to travel and took many trips around the United States. They have been in 47 of the 48 continental states.

Eula died Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 103 years, eight months and eight days.

Eula was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Cyril Dalton Adamson; husband Alvin Blankenship; infant great-great grandson, Easton Lane; brother, Lee (Juanita) Adamson; and sister, Leeta (Ed) Hubbard. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ed) Hornbeck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two granddaughters, Ronda (Jeff) Thomas and Denise (Mitch) Lane all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Ashley (Jesse) Smith, Cody (Janna) Thomas and Tyler Thomas, Korey (Amanda) Lane, Kylie Lane and Kelly Lane; four great-great grandchildren Nicole Smith and Lucas Smith and Brinley Lane and Hadley Lane; and many other relatives and friends.
