Eula Irene Carson Nichols

Eula Irene Carson Nichols was born June 9, 1916 to parents James Sylvester and Minnie (Chase) Carson on a farm near Pisgah, IA. She graduated from Pisgah High School and completed one year of cosmetology school in Omaha. She operated a hair salon in Pisgah, IA with her sister Fern. Eula married Lyle Nichols July 8, 1938. Eula always told her sons that she had given Lyle a perm shortly after they were married and a short time later he went bald. To this union three children were born; a daughter, who died in infancy, and two sons Ronald and Donald. Lyle and Eula rented a farm in Willow Township until 1952 at this time they bought the farm and lived on it the rest of their married life. Once Eula's children were raised she returned to the work force doing various jobs, but she preferred restaurant work. Lyle died November of 1973. She enjoyed gardening and making quilts. Her quilts have become heirlooms for many family members and friends. Eula was baptized in the Moorhead Christian Church in October of 1952 and has been an active member since that time.

Eula died October 2, 2002 at the Alegent Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley attaining the age of 86 years, three months, and 22 days.

Eula was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, parents, three sisters, Velma Hinkel, Rachel Crews and Fern Marcum and six brothers, Ben, Harold, Clyde, Chase, Marion and Merritt Jeff Carson. She is survived by her two sons Ronald and Krystal Nichols of Moorhead, IA; Donald and Dolly Nichols of Dalzell, SC; two grandsons Todd and JoAnn Nichols and John and Vivian Nichols all of Moorhead, IA; five great grandchildren; Courtney, Iris, Brittney, Caitlin, and Lyle, and two brothers, Wilbur and Evalina Carson of Pisgah and Fay "Kit" and Dorlene Carson of Nashville, TN and many other relatives and friends.
