Eva Maxine (Lawson) McCann was born April 2, 1017 to Frank and Pearl (VanWinkle) Lawson in Lewiston, Nebraska. She grew up in the Pony County, Nebraska and graduated from Lewiston Consolidated School in 1934. She then worked for Pony City Hospital for a few years before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1940 to work as a hostess and waitress. On June 10, 1955, she married Phil McCann in Franklin, Nebraska. The couple lived in Omaha for six years before moving to Dunlap, Iowa to begin their farming operation.

Eva was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbor's Club and Shady Grove Neighborhood Club. Eva loved to watch baseball whenever she could.

Eva died on Monday, March 11, 2005, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home attaining the age of 88 years and nine days.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cecil, Claude, Bill, and LeRoy Lawson; and one sister, Delma Habrick. She is survived by her husband, Phil McCann; four brothers, Rick Lawson and his wife Donna of Davenport, Nebraska, Luke Lawson and his wife Jean of Weeping Water, Nebraska, Clark Lawson and his and his wife Pauline of Beatrice, Nebraska, Norm Lawson and his wife Carol of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister, Edna Gafford of Seneca, Kansas, one step-son Vince McCann and his wife Kathy of Montrose, Colorado; one nephew, Kirk Lawson and his wife Margaret of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
