Evelyn Schlensig

Evelyn Marie Schlensig was born on January 13, 1928, to Albert and Emma (Torgerson) Timm in Ute, Iowa. She attended Soldier High School. Evelyn married Bob Schlensig on January 15, 1947. The couple farmed in the Dunlap area and retired from farming in 1981.  Evelyn worked at Roger’s Grocery Store in Dunlap for a number of years.

Evelyn was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap. Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and baking. Evelyn was always caring for others.

Evelyn died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at her home at the age of 93 years, three months and ten days.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob on September 5, 2009, son, David Lee Schlensig; son-in-law, Elmer Melby; brother, Walter Timm; and sisters, Marina Theis and Irma Nelson. She is survived by her two daughters, Janelle Melby of Dunlap, Iowa and Judy and her husband Tom Gray of Weston, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Chrissy (David) Waido, Nicki (Kevin) Bordovsky, Teresa Kepford, Darcy (Nick) Behrendt, Doug (Jill) Melby, Pam Melby, and Emily (Chris) Wrenn; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
