Everette A. Fountain was born on August 10, 1927, in Hardscratch, southeast of Logan, Iowa to Lyle and Hazel (Dixon) Fountain. Everette attended Reeder’s Mills country school followed by the Logan school, where he graduated in 1945. Everette farmed all his life and then in 1945 he ventured off to farm his own farms, but still helped his father with the family farm. In 1950, Everette was drafted and served our   country in the USA Army 40th Infantry in the Korean War for two years, was honorably discharged and then further served in the USA Army Reserves for six years. He then returned to his family and farming. Everette was united in marriage to Donna Mae Thomsen on November 16, 1952, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm between Missouri Valley and Logan, as well as other farms in the area. In 1963 they decided to move to Logan, where Everette resided until October of 2022. Everette also was an Inspector for the State of Iowa for many years and helped to inspect all aspects related to roads and all that go with it.

Everette and Donna Mae were members of the Logan United Methodist Church for many years and Everette remained a member until he passed away. Everette and Donna Mae enjoyed square dancing and were members of Circle 8 Square Dance Club. They were snowbirds to Arizona up until Donna Mae passed away and Everette one more year after she passed. They spent about 23 years doing that. Everette was an avid horseshoe player and was in a league in Arizona. The couple had a Pinochle Card Club they were members of and they also did a lot of shuffleboard tournaments around Mesa, Arizona. Everette enjoyed riding his bicycle in Arizona, while Donna Mae rode her 3-wheel bicycle.

Everette died on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, five months and 18 days.
