Francis Rannells

Francis Arthur Rannells was born July 7, 1922, to James Arthur and Leeta Fern (Calhoon) Rannells near Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised near Dunlap and attended country school and Dunlap High School graduating in 1939. Francis married Estella Heese on November 9, 1950. After the couple got married they lived on Francis's family farm west of Dunlap. In 1967 their daughter Sandra died of leukemia at the age of 14. His wife Estella died in 2009. The Rannells farm is a century farm.

Francis enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and would enjoy an occasional trip to the casino.

Francis died on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at the Dunlap Nursing & Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa, at the age of 92 years, seven months, and 11 days.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Estella; daughter, Sandra Rannells; brother, Richard Rannells. He is survived by two sons, Rick Rannells of Dunlap, Iowa, Craig and his wife Kim Rannells of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Cindy Rannells of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kyle (Alisha) Rannells, Jayden Rannells, and Delaney Rannells; great grandson, Jaxon Rannells; three sisters, Ruth Roberts Heller of Indialantic, Florida, Margaret Wetter of Des Moines, Iowa and Eula Jeane Roberts of Dunlap, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
