Garrett Henry Brummer departed Springdale, Arkansas on November 2, 2022, for his final PCS (Permanent Change of Station). His earthly remains will be TDY (Temporary Duty) in the Dow City, Iowa family plot. He was born to Edward and Mary (Feser) Brummer on February 27, 1943, at the home of his maternal grandmother, Magdalena Schaben Feser, who was a midwife. He was the oldest of three siblings: brother, Walt (Susanne) and sister, Marla (David). Gary grew up on the family farm and was educated in Dow City, Iowa where he attended K-12 in the same building and formed many lifelong friendships. Within a month of graduation, and for the princely sum of $98.00, including room and board, he joined the United States Air Force. He met the love of his life, Nanda, in 1965, while stationed at Little Rock, AFB. During the next 30 years they had duty stations in four countries and nine states. Along the way, they added two dependents: son, Garrett and his wife Jill and their two children, Calie and Delaney and daughter, Jessica and her husband John and their two children, Aaron and Nathaniel. He retired in 1991, having achieved the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant, First Sergeant and settled on a small farm in Springdale, Arkansas. He loved his country, his friends and above all, his family. He was one of a kind and while we are heartbroken he is gone, we feel so very lucky to have had someone who we will miss so much.
