Gary Ellison

Gary James Ellison was born February 11, 1947, in Woodbine, Iowa to Floyd and Vivian (Malone) Ellison. He grew up in the Woodbine area, attended country school and the Woodbine Public School. On April 21, 1964, Gary married Frankie Runyan in Rockport, Missouri. The couple lived in Woodbine where Gary trimmed trees and also had a garbage route. The couple then moved west of Dunlap where Gary worked in the hog confinement for Leonard Bolton. In 1970 the couple moved to Arion, Iowa where Gary worked at the Hide Plant in Denison. In 1978 they moved back to Dunlap where Gary worked for the Bolton's again. In 1988 Gary started working for the City of Dunlap with the street department; and he worked there until his retirement in 2009. The couple moved to Harlan in November of 2015.

Gary and Frankie loved to go camping and fishing. They also loved to babysit the grandkids. Gary enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers.

Gary died on January 20, 2017, at his home in Harlan at the age of 69 years, 11 months and nine days.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Gay Lynn Ellison. He is survived by his wife, Frankie Ellison of Harlan, Iowa; four children, Scott Ellison and his wife Ann of Arion, Iowa, Marty Ellison and his partner David Greggs of Harlan, Iowa, Janie and her husband Richard Croghan of Woodbine, Iowa and Jamie Ellison and his wife Deena of Missouri Valley, Iowa; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three siblings, Connie and her husband Sol Mohn of Woodbine, Iowa, Nancy and her husband Bill Kruse of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Tom Ellison and his wife Charlene of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
