Glenda Erlewine

Glenda Fay Erlewine was born on August 19, 1947, in Tarkio, Missouri, to Glen and Belva (Cook) Carlson. The family moved to Woodbine in 1957. Glenda married Edward Barnum and was blessed with four sons, Kevin, Keith, Kenny, and Kert. She dedicated herself to raising her four boys with strength, patience, and love. She later married her soulmate, John Patrick Erlewine, on June 27, 1992, and joyfully welcomed Pat’s two daughters, Jill and Lisa, into her heart.

Glenda was very artistic, and her creativity was always an expression of her love. She poured herself into calligraphy, painting, cake decorating, scrapbooking, and handmade gifts- never to be tucked away, but to be used and enjoyed by others. Glenda’s life motto was to never know a stranger, and her warm smile, kind heart, and genuine interest in others allowed her to make friends wherever she went. She cherished time with her children and grandchildren, offering wisdom when it was needed and laughter when it was not. Her playfulness, quick humor, and lightheartedness made her a joy to be around. Above all, Glenda loved Jesus and lived her life guided by faith. She was proud to have attended ministry school in Texas and was a devoted member of the Faith Family Church in Harlan.

Glenda passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 78 years, nine months and 17 days. Her kind and welcoming spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Carlson; and infant twin, Linda Kay. She is survived by husband Pat; children, Kevin (Kristin) Barnum of Omaha, Nebraska, Keith (Kelly) Barnum of Woodbine, Kenny (Emily) Barnum of Woodbine, Kert (Amanda) Barnum of Woodbine, Jill Nelson of Minden, Iowa, and Lisa Erlewine (Nick Stutterheim) of Prairie View, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Ann “Sis” (Kermit) Daigh of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.
