Harold Ray McCord was born July 27, 1939, to George and Vera (Hack) McCord in Shelby County, Iowa. He graduated from Dunlap High School in 1957. On June 1, 1957, he married Elaine Dai in Dunlap. The couple was blessed with three children, Debbie, Cheryl and Keith. They lived in Dunlap and farmed with Harold's brother, Clair. Harold and Clair also operated the Gold Slipper in the late 1960s. On March 16, 1970, Harold married Nancy (Mann) Clark in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with one child, Darcy. The couple farmed in Pisgah and Harold drove a truck and did custom farming in the earlier years. This turned into McCord Trucking and full time farming.
Harold enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He particularly loved his grandchildren. Harold served on the West Harrison school board and as president of the board.
Harold died on Sunday, November 13, 2005, as a result of an automobile accident near Pisgah, Iowa attaining the age of 66 years, three months, and 17 days.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clair on February 14, 1971; and four sisters, Ina Petersen, Vesta Morris, Helen Thorson, and Ruby Mathison. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Pisgah, Iowa; children, Debbie and her husband Ron Petersen of Springfield, Massachusetts, Cheryl and her husband Leo Block of Omaha, Nebraska, Keith McCord of Knoxville, Tennessee, Darcy and her husband Jamie Winther of Pisgah, Iowa; three stepsons, Scott Clark and his wife Jackie of Pisgah, Iowa, Cary Clark of Harlan, Iowa, Tommy Clark and his wife Peggy of Pisgah, Iowa; brother Ron McCord and his wife Dorothy of Dunlap, Iowa; three sisters, Arletta Morse of Omaha, Nebraska, Virginia Campbell of Rapid City, South Dakota, Carol and her husband Jack Thompson of Henderson, Nevada; brother-in-law Carl Morris of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
