Helen Faye Moores was born on February 15, 1925, to Harry H. and Minnie (Knauss) Poe in Woodbine, Iowa. Helen grew up in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1942. She then taught country school for a few years. On August 11, 1952, Helen married Wilbur Moores in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in Schleswig for seven years and then returned to Woodbine. Helen worked at the Hamburger Hut in Woodbine as a waitress, at Wilkerson's in Fort Calhoun and Headstart in Logan.

Helen was a member of the Woodbine First Christian Church. She enjoyed shopping at garage sales and spending time with her grand-children.

Helen died on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 90 years and two months.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Christopher Moores; three brothers, Clive, Durward "Dude" and Darrell "Tink" Poe; and three sisters, Dorothy Milne, Leta Mae Richmond and Lois Hoover. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Moores of Woodbine, Iowa; three sons, Tim (Yvonne) Moores of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David (Debbie) Moores of Woodbine, Iowa and Dan (Lyn) Moores of Woodbine, Iowa; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
