Irma Nelson

Irma Adeline (Timm) Nelson was born on August 24, 1924, to Albert and Emma (Torgerson) Timm in Ute, Iowa. She was raised in the Soldier and Ute areas. Irma attended country school and the Soldier elementary school. Irma married Kenyon Nelson on December 29, 1945, in Soldier, Iowa. Irma worked at the Spotts IGA, for Wilder Nelson and later on at the Dunlap Care Center. Kenyon died on September 25, 2000.

Irma was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap. She enjoyed attending church where everyone knew her and where she sat with her sister, Evelyn. Irma's wit and spunk was ever present in family gatherings where she showered love on her family. She was a model for unconditional love; her true legacy. She enjoyed bowling and card parties. She also enjoyed cooking her family's favorite foods and also taking care of her family ~ especially her grandkids.

Irma died on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, one month, and six days.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Kenyon Nelson; brother, Walt Timm; and sister, Marina Thies. She is survived by four children, Roger (Peggy) Nelson of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Ron (Marcia) Nelson, Jim (Pat) Nelson, and Mary Nelson all of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; 13 great grand-children; sister, Evelyn Schlensig of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
