Iva Vandemark

Iva Lucille Vandemark was born on August 18, 1932, to Albert and Viola (Vanderpool) Radloff near Woodbine. She attended country school and then Woodbine’s public school. She worked for families in the area. Iva married Freeman Vandemark on February 25, 1950, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Woodbine. They raised their family and farmed outside of Woodbine. Iva also worked as a housekeeper at Rose Vista. In 1993, Iva and Freeman moved to town.

Iva enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs, baking, reading cookbooks and collecting dolls. She loved volunteering her time with 4-H. Iva enjoyed working in her many flower gardens. Iva treasured music, especially hymns, country western and gospel music. Most of all, Iva cherished being a grandmother and watching her grandchildren at their various activities.

Iva died on October 17, 2019, at Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, one month and 29 days.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Freeman Vandemark on April 29, 2018; two grandchildren, Dottie Vandemark and Kevin Jackson; brothers, Robert and Delbert Radloff; brother-in-law, Charles Vandemark; and sister-in-law, Donna Vandemark. Iva is survived by her daughter, Viola Jackson-Haag and her husband Ron Haag of Woodbine, Iowa; four sons, Dan Vandemark and his wife Paula of Woodbine, Lloyd Vandemark and his wife Holly of Beebeetown, Iowa, Jim Vandemark and Renea Andersen of Woodbine, and Randy Vandemark and his wife Lisa of Woodbine;  nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Grace Shafer of Missouri Valley, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Vandemark of Missouri Valley and Lawrence Vandemark and his wife Karolyn of Woodbine; and many other relatives and friends.
